The other reviews are spot on - this program is intuitive and the learning curve isn't steep. While this combination met many of my needs, I was looking for something that could help me save time and that could provide some features (stabilization, audio editing, etc.) that these free programs didn't offer.ĭespite having these other two programs ingrained into my habits over several years, PowerDirector did not take long for me to learn. I had been editing home videos for several years using a combination of "PlayMemoriesHome" (the proprietary Sony software designed for my Sony camcorder) and Windows MovieMaker. At least it won't crash and lose my project. I should just use Movie Maker and deal with the long render times. Gotta get back to researching now so I can find some editing software that doesn't crash every 30 seconds and actually has some customer service. I'm just cutting my losses with this thing and moving on. They just sent me an email saying they want to do a session in 9 or 10 days to help me troubleshoot! What a joke. After much wrangling back and forth with them to try and convince them that I actually bought the software and I'm not some kind of crook, they finally agreed to help me, which was 4 or 5 days ago then nothing from them until today, after midnight mind you. To boot, the technical support I attempted to get was abysmal. You can draw your own conclusions from that one. You know what did work however, even after the program "crashed?" It sent up a notification from my notification tray offering a discount on 15. It won't even let me check the version I'm using without crashing. It won't save a project without crashing either (it does save it, but it crashes right after). Once I finally finished the edit after doing it over and over due to crashes, it refused to render without crashing (doesn't even start to render, just crashes). The crashes were more frequent and happened when I did almost any action to the video other than scroll through the timeline. It ran an update upon startup and the crashing problem got worse. Then it sat for a couple months and I tried using it again. I edited one video and published it, and it crashed several times while I was using it, but I was able to get the video out after multiple redo's. Most glitchy software I've used since the 90's. PowerDirector’s customizable design tools and premium plug-ins are running on the world's fastest video rendering engine, while the new Action Camera center provides all the tools needed by action sports enthusiasts. Capture, Create, Produce -PowerDirector Ultimate offers a combination of high-end performance and features found in pro-level software, wrapped in an easy-to-use interface. You can also apply slow motion effects, or freeze & zoom to footage highlights. Use it to stabilize shaky action video, correct fish-eye distortion, and fix color problems. ![]() ![]()
